Cumaru Decking
Premium cumaru decking boards for residential and commercial projects
Overview
Cumaru decking, sometimes called "Brazilian Teak," delivers exceptional hardness and durability at a more affordable price than Ipe. With a Janka hardness of 3,330 lbf and natural oils that resist decay and insects, Cumaru is an excellent choice for homeowners and contractors who want exotic hardwood performance without the premium Ipe price tag. Its warm golden-brown to reddish-brown color and subtle vanilla-like aroma make it a beautiful, long-lasting decking material.

Installation Tips
Pre-drill all screw holes — Cumaru is very hard and will split or break screws.
Use stainless steel screws or approved hardwood fasteners.
Allow 1/8" spacing between boards for expansion.
Acclimate boards on-site for 5-7 days before installation.
Seal all cut ends with end-sealer to prevent checking.
Consider hidden clip systems for a clean look.
Maintenance
Cumaru decking is low maintenance. Apply a penetrating hardwood oil once per year to maintain the warm golden-brown color. If left untreated, Cumaru will weather to an attractive silver-gray over time. Clean with mild soap and water annually. Avoid harsh chemicals or high-pressure washing.
