Overview

Ash hardwood flooring offers a beautiful light blonde-to-tan color with prominent, distinctive grain patterns similar to Oak but with a lighter, more contemporary feel. At 1,320 lbf Janka hardness, Ash performs nearly identically to White Oak in terms of dent resistance and wear. Ash is known for its exceptional shock resistance (it's the wood used for baseball bats and tool handles), making it a smart choice for active households. Its light color brightens rooms and works beautifully in Scandinavian, modern, and transitional interiors.

Installation Tips

1

Acclimate for 5-7 days before installation.

2

Nail-down or glue-down per standard methods.

3

Maintain 3/8" expansion gap at walls.

4

Ash machines and sands well — no special tools needed.

5

Test stain on scrap pieces — Ash grain absorbs stain unevenly similar to Oak.

6

Use a quality sanding sealer before staining for more even color.

Maintenance

Sweep or vacuum regularly. Clean with a hardwood floor cleaner — avoid standing water. Ash's open grain can collect dirt, so regular cleaning keeps it looking fresh. Felt pads under furniture, area rugs at entryways. Refinish every 7-10 years. Ash's light color shows dirt more than dark floors but also shows scratches less.
