Overview
1x6 is the most popular decking profile, offering an ideal balance of material cost, coverage per board, and aesthetic appeal. At 3/4 inch thick, 1x6 boards are lighter than 5/4 stock and are the standard choice for exotic hardwoods like Ipe and Cumaru, where the extreme density provides more than enough structural strength at this thickness. 1x6 is also available in softwoods for lighter-duty applications.
