Installation Tips

1

Pre-drill all fastener holes — white oak is very hard and will split otherwise

2

Use stainless steel fasteners to prevent tannin staining

3

Set posts at least 30" deep in concrete for stability

4

Apply a penetrating oil finish to enhance grain and protect the surface

5

Work with sharp carbide-tipped blades for clean cuts

6

Allow for seasonal movement — do not over-tighten connections

Maintenance

White oak fences require less maintenance than softer woods. Apply a penetrating sealer every 3-5 years. Left untreated, white oak weathers to a silver-gray. Inspect fasteners and posts annually. The natural tannins in white oak provide ongoing protection against decay.
