Pressure Treated Framing
Premium pressure treated framing boards for residential and commercial projects
Overview
Pressure treated framing lumber is essential for any structural application involving ground contact, moisture exposure, or outdoor use. Southern Yellow Pine is treated with preservatives (typically MCA or ACQ) under high pressure to penetrate deep into the wood fibers, providing long-lasting protection against rot, decay, fungus, and termites. Required by building code for sill plates, deck framing, and any wood in contact with concrete or soil.

Installation Tips
Match the use category (UC rating) to the application — UC4A for general ground contact, UC4B for critical structural ground contact
Wear gloves and a dust mask when cutting — sawdust can irritate skin and lungs
Allow 4-6 weeks of drying time before staining or painting
Use ACQ-compatible fasteners — hot-dipped galvanized or stainless steel only
Never burn pressure treated scraps — dispose at approved facilities
Seal all field cuts with end-cut preservative
Maintenance
Pressure treated framing generally requires no maintenance once installed and enclosed. Exposed PT lumber (decks, porches) should be stained or sealed after the initial drying period and refinished every 2-3 years. Inspect for checking (surface cracks) and apply wood preservative to any deep checks.
